Welcome to SaportaReport, a site I hope will be a thought-provoking venue in making metro Atlanta and Georgia a great place to live, work, play and study.
For readers who are familiar with my writings at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, this column will be similar in scope to the one I wrote for the Horizon section for about a decade.
This will be my outlet to share perspectives of our region and our state, and to weigh in on how we can do better. My topics will range from transportation, the environment, the arts, philanthropy, urban design to leadership.
Most importantly, this website also will be a venue for you to share your thoughts. At the end of every column, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the conversation. While I don’t want to limit dialogue, I hope comments will be respectful and constructive.
Maria’s Metro will be updated on a regular, weekly basis. The SaportaReport website also will have two other features: “Latest Reports” and “Guest Column.”
Latest Reports will provide current daily information on what’s going on in our region by covering events, programs, panel discussions and developments. As the site matures, I hope to have several colleagues contribute regularly to this feature as a way to have a broader reach.
The Guest Column will feature a weekly commentary from leading voices in our community. Again, the goal will be to stimulate thought and challenge our region and state to be as good a place as it can be.
Each of the features will be separate blogs giving readers ample opportunities to join in the conversation.
Thank your for joining me on this adventure. Please be patient and forgiving as I learn how to maneuver in this new world of communications.
