Saturday, September 22 was the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. This year, the metro Atlanta Heart Walk took place at Atlantic Station, and VeinInnovations was happy to be one of the sponsors. Our employees and volunteers manned the photo booth for the second year in a row. All participating teams were invited to take a picture to remember the day, and why we were all there to walk the 3.1 mile course.
This past weekend was incredible. The beginnings of fall are in the air, and the atmosphere at Heart Walk was festive and light. Thousands joined together to participate. And that was just in Atlanta! All across the country, people came out and walked. Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s biggest fundraiser and awareness event of the year. The money that’s raised goes towards fighting pressing health problems in America, specifically heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases.
In the spirit of raising awareness, here are a few facts and tips about heart disease.
• Smoking is a major cause of heart disease.
• Exercising for 30 minutes a day can lower your risk of heart disease.
• Drinking non-alcoholic red wine may lower your blood pressure.
• Eating a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables can lower your risk of heart disease.
Be well, everyone. And join us next year at Heart Walk!
