Living on a farm, I get exposed to poison ivy almost daily but I&#039;m usually able to avoid a reaction by washing any exposed area as soon as possible with cold water and dawn liquid dishwashing soap. I suppose any hand dishwashing soap (not the detergent you add to your automatic dishwasher) that cuts grease will work. My theory is that the dishwashing soap draws all the urushiol out of the skin because it certainly makes my skin dry if do it often.]]></description>
