Atlanta-based H.J. Russell & Co., the nation’s largest minority real estate construction firm, has new chief operating officer.
William Lampley, a long-time real estate professional with 25 years of operational and management experience, will oversee H.J. Russell’s day-to-day operations and will lead the development and the execution of the company’s strategic plan.
“H.J. Russell is an iconic 60-year-old brand built upon a foundation of customer centered service and excellence, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” Lampley said in a release. “By streamlining business processes, collaborating more effectively across platforms, and being very intentional with our business goals, we will operate more efficiently without losing focus of the customer experience which is paramount to the culture that exists at H.J. Russell & Co.”
Lampley also will focus on new business development as the company expands its service and market offerings to diversify revenue. This expansion includes the launch of Russell Commercial, an arm of H.J. Russell & Co. which will provide integrated facilities management, project management and transaction services to corporate users.
“We’ve been fortunate to know William for more than 10 years, and are thrilled with the skills and innovation he’s already brought the company,” said Michael Russell, CEO of H.J. Russell. “As construction continues to rebound, William is integral to our growth and focus on new audiences in key markets. His hands-on approach and experience means there are no aspects of our operation he doesn’t fully understand or appreciate. William is extremely comfortable in the Russell environment and has made a concerted effort to better understand our strengths and areas of opportunity.”
Lampley has held a variety of high impact leadership roles in the industry. Most notably, Lampley was president of strategic accounts with Grubb & Ellis and a member of the firm’s executive management team. During his tenure at Grubb & Ellis, Lampley also served as president of the Eastern region. Lampley was also with Jones Lang LaSalle for more than 10 years and was senior vice president in the corporate solutions group.
Lampley did take a two-year sabbatical from the commercial real estate to become president of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta.
Born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL, Lampley received his undergraduate degree from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point and his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
FH.J. Russell employs nearly 700 people nationwide with operations in Atlanta, Baltimore, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, Newark, Phoenix, St. Louis and Tampa.
