The college football season may be over, but the excitement around the sport is still going strong in Atlanta. The Atlanta Football Host Committee (AFHC) just launched a year-long marketing and social media campaign to energize the community in preparation for the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, January 8, 2018.

On January 24, during an unveiling in Centennial Olympic Park, the heart of Championship Campus, the AFHC revealed the “I’m In” marketing campaign. The campaign will utilize both digital and vinyl billboards throughout the community and social media to feature various leaders, celebrities and behind-the-scenes employees who make hosting such a major sporting event possible.
“The campaign is designed to tap into the everyday passion Atlanta has for college football and rally the community to embrace the big game,” said Dan Corso, president of the AFHC board and Atlanta Sports Council. “Hosting the College Football Playoff National Championship is much more than a football game. It will take the entire community working together to make this an unforgettable event.”

The campaign rollout began in mid-January with several “Are You In?” billboards sprinkled around Atlanta and on social media to build anticipation for what’s to come. During the January 24 event, the AFHC unveiled the first of the “I’m In” billboards featuring Mayor Kasim Reed. An additional 10 billboards will be revealed around the city highlighting five unique community faces. Throughout 2017, two new faces will be released into rotation each month, eventually culminating into a final “Atlanta’s All In” push during the week of the championship game. The first people highlighted include:

  • Jerry Kosoff, Atlanta Public Schools Teacher of the Year (2015-2016), KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, algebra teacher
  • Erika Shields, Atlanta Chief of Police
  • Zac Brown, Zac Brown Band
  • John Hall, MARTA, Bus Operator (MARTA employee for 14.5 years)

“We are thrilled to be part of such exciting times for the city and the people of Atlanta, said Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff.  The College Football Playoff will be an event that happens with the community.  From our public events to the great work being done here in Atlanta by the CFP Foundation to the excitement of game day, we look forward to a first-class experience that will make everyone proud.”
