It was a big deal for the entire town

There is something undeniably compelling about the shared experience. It’s a human thing. We all have it, that need to be with others. A neuroscientist could probably offer a pretty strong biological reason for what the sociologists call collective behavior. You and I, we don’t usually feel the need to get that deep into the weeds. We don’t analyze why we gather together, we just do. It’s fun, it’s cathartic, it’s reassuring and sometimes, just necessary for us to be a part of the crowd.
There are any number of reasons for a community to turn out en masse and some aren’t all that logical, but then, I guess it depends on what your options are, as you will see in this week’s Stories of Atlanta.
