Hotel Perks Help Ease Stress for Business Travelers

Sometimes it really is the little things. When I check into a DoubleTree Hotel, I know that along with my room key, I’ll receive a warm chocolate chip cookie. The tradition of welcoming guests with a baked treat started 25 years ago, and now the chain serves 60,000 cookies a day — 21 million a year.

When I stayed at the W Hotel in New York, I reserved an Acura MDX to take me to my business meeting. The complimentary service came with my own driver.

While I enjoy traveling  for my job, it can be stressful,  A nice hotel perk really can help ease that stress of business travel and possibly guarantee a return visit.

I enjoy the Manager’s Cocktail Hour at Embassy Suites, where I can relax with complimentary drinks and snacks in the evening. And I really like to start my day with a hot, cook-to order breakfast, also complimentary at Embassy Suites.

Staying healthy on the road is a particular concern of business travelers, as we often spend a good part of our time traveling. Ask for a Stay Fit Kit at the front desk of a Hilton Garden Inn and you can work out right in your room with a Pilates band, yoga mat, abs ball, hand weights and resistance rope.

If you’re on an extended trip, you may want to check into a Residence Inn. These extended stay properties by Marriott offer a 24/7self-serve pantry and free grocery delivery for when you need to work in your room or just can’t face another meal out.

It’s hard to beat the club level at The Ritz-Carlton where I enjoy the luxurious lounges and delicious food. I got a kick out of the freshly baked cookies at The Ritz-Carlton, Orlando, Grand Lakes, which were elegantly displayed in a case worthy of museum collection.

On a recent trip to New York, I stayed at the W Hotel and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could reserve an Acura MDX, along with a personal driver, to take me to my business appointment.

At Andaz Hotels, a Hyatt brand, you have your pick of free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks from the mini bar.

Hotels are competing for our business. While some of these amenities may seem like little things, well, after a long day of travel and business meeting, the little things do count.
