Leadership Atlanta names 89 leaders to its 2019 Class

By Maria Saporta

Leadership Atlanta has released the names of 89 community leaders who will participate in its Class of 2019 program – the largest class in the organization’s 49-year history.

The Class of 2019, representing such diverse industries as education, law, corporate, religious, nonprofit, technology, media, healthcare, politics and government, share a common desire to move Atlanta forward by delving deeply into the city’s issues, according to a Leadership Atlanta news release.

“We are thrilled to welcome the largest class ever,” said Pat Upshaw-Monteith, Leadership Atlanta’s president and CEO.  “We are proud to continue Leadership Atlanta’s tradition of bringing together the region’s most influential, engaged, and creative leaders dedicated to working together for the greater good.  We can’t wait to see what innovative ideas the Class of 2019 brings!”

During the nine-month program, the Class will learn more about the region by participating in retreats, full-day seminars, service projects, discussion groups and community tours, and other impactful experiential activities. In addition to exploring important regional issues, class members will critically examine themselves as leaders, challenge themselves to find ways to be more effective in their leadership roles, and build relationships of trust and mutual understanding with each other.

Each year, a Leadership Atlanta trustee is selected by his/her peers to serve as the incoming class Volunteer Program Chair. Audra Dial, Atlanta Office Managing Partner, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, will be the Program Chair for the Class of 2019.

“My participation in the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2016 led me to a deeper understanding of the issues and opportunities facing our city and instilled in me a sense of obligation to give back to our wonderful city,” Dial said in a statement. “I look forward to getting to know the Class of 2019 and learning from them as to how we can collaborate to continue to provide long-term, sustainable leadership in our community and our state.”
