Advocacy Day at Five Points Touts Health Benefits of Transit

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will mark national Get on Board Day Thursday, April 25, from noon until 2 p.m. at Five Points Station with activities celebrating the health benefits of using public transit.

Get on Board Day is the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) new advocacy campaign to increase support of public transit. Five Points Station will feature a lunchtime yoga session on the Station Soccer field, a mini health and wellness fair, live cooking demonstrations, and popsicles from King of Pops, along with interactive exhibits from Relay Bikes, Georgia Commute Options, Grady and others.

WHAT: Get on Board Day

WHERE: Five Points Station

WHEN: Thursday, April 25

Health Fair: noon – 2 p.m.

Station Yoga: 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.

All participants are encouraged to ride MARTA to the event, and yoga participants are advised to register for free prior to the event at www.itsmarta.com/GetOnBoard and bring their own mats.

“MARTA is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle,” said MARTA General Manager & CEO Jeffrey Parker. “Fresh MARTA Markets open for the season this week and provide locally-sourced produce to communities. The popular Station Soccer program encourages physical fitness, and MARTA’s fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) buses reduces emissions.”
