The ATL Airport District Convention and Visitors Bureau has hired a new sales manager to help promote the ATL Airport District as a premier meeting and sports destination.

The CVB is the destination marking organization for College Park, Hapeville and Union City.

Jamal Brown joined the organization in December, according to his LinkedIn page, and has more than two decades of experience in sales, marketing and event management in the industries of sports, tourism and hospitality.

Before joining the ATL Airport District, Brown served as a brand activation specialist for PGA Tour Superstore, a CVB statement said. Earlier roles include serving as a sports and meetings manager at the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau in Alaska.

Locally, during the 2010s, he worked as an account executive with the Atlanta Dream, coordinating logistics and fan engagement for statewide traveling practices.

“His extensive experience in sports marketing and his ability to cultivate meaningful partnerships will play a vital role in showcasing our community and enhancing the group experience,” said Mercedes Miller, president of the ATL Airport District. “As a College Park local, Jamal brings a personal connection to the community and valuable insight about what we offer here, which will help him promote the District in a genuine and impactful way.”

Other organizations and local officials have had a fresh focus on redevelopment in the areas of south Fulton and Clayton counties to attract travelers visiting the Atlanta metro area.

Aerotropolis Alliance Atlanta hosted a December event highlighting south side growth and development plans including the Atlanta Beltline’s future connection to the Flint River Gateway Trail.

In July, Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance is partnering with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to host the Smart Airports & Regions Conference, which will include international executives and planners as attendees.
