Community Connections Spread Holiday Cheer

Generosity is defined as “the quality of being kind and generous.” Families First has seen the power of our community’s generosity this holiday season with our annual Adopt-A-Family Program. This year, in partnership with Macy’s and supported by corporations, civic groups, faith-based organizations and individuals, we are spreading holiday joy to 1,350 individuals – more than double the individuals served last year.

“Macy’s is committed to giving back and being there for the community in times of need. This unprecedented time has brought challenges to many families in the communities Macy’s colleagues live and work,” said Kelli Lewis, Director, Corporate Giving of Macy’s. “From a holiday meal to gifts under the tree, partnering with Families First gives us the chance to connect with our neighbors and help them enjoy the holiday season.”

For the holidays, our Adopt-A-Family Program connects wish granters with families’ wish lists of items requested by both parents, and children. While the children’s lists often includes toys, books and bicycles, the parents often ask for what many of us consider basic needs such as winter coats, shoes, pots, and pans. These items that most of us purchase without a thought, are what our families are hoping for at Christmas to enjoy “comforts” that a lot of us take for granted.

Atlanta’s corporate community is an essential part of our holiday team. From adopting families to spending time together wrapping gifts for our families, StarbucksJabian ConsultingEnterpriseAtlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®T. Dallas Smith & Company, Anisa International, Colliers and TruRating have all helped spread holiday joy this year.

One of our teen clients expressed her gratitude with, “I just want to say THANK ❤️❤️❤️. I appreciate you so much!!!!”

Thank you to all of the individuals, corporations, civic groups and faith-based organizations who have helped us spread holiday cheer this year!
