Thought Leadership Views From Peachtree

Help Shape the Future of Buckhead

By Denise Starling, Executive Director of Livable Buckhead

Two years ago we heard from Buckhead residents and workers that they believe our area of Atlanta has the best shopping, restaurants and schools and that it is one of the best places to live. We also learned that Buckhead loves its dogs. In fact, 56% of Buckhead households have at least one four-legged friend at home.

These and many other findings were part of the 2020 State of Buckhead survey. It wasn’t all good news, of course. People were concerned about crime, and two-thirds of respondents named it as the most important issue facing Buckhead. We also learned that there was dissatisfaction with city leadership, and that Buckhead needs to improve its pedestrian infrastructure and its parks, greenspace and trails.

How much has changed two years later? We hope to find out in the 2022 State of Buckhead survey, which is open until September 25.

Take the survey and you’ll provide valuable insight into questions such as:

  • Should Buckhead become its own city?
  • How satisfied are you with the current City of Atlanta administration?
  • What do you like about Buckhead? What could be better?
  • What are the most pressing issues facing the community?
  • What community improvements would you value most?

We know some of these questions are contentious, but we think it’s important to get answers to them if we can. Learning what the community values and where they think there is room for improvement is a helpful tool for developing programs and services to guide Buckhead’s future.

The Buc – Your Ride to Great Food and Entertainment

One of the programs that you’ll help us refine is our on-demand transportation service, the Buc. The Buc launched in April and every day more people are finding out what an inexpensive, quick way it is to get around Buckhead. Use the Buc app to call for a shuttle, and in minutes one of our Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans will be on its way to pick you up.

Get door-to-door service for just $3 – or free if your trip starts or ends at the Buckhead or Lenox MARTA station. Use the Buc to get to your favorite lunch spot without the hassle of parking. Book a ride for a mid-day shopping trip to Lenox Square or Buckhead Village District.

Even better, let the Buc take you to your favorite happy hour spot while you wait for the traffic to die down. On Wednesdays, use code SuiteDrink for a free roundtrip ride and a complimentary drink at Embassy Suites Atlanta Buckhead. On Thursdays, use the code LIVEJAZZ for a free roundtrip ride to The Whitley where you will enjoy live jazz music and a 10% discount on food and beverage at Trade Roots Bar Lounge. For more details on both of these deals, visit the promotions page of the Buc website or download the Buc app.
