The fifth annual Roswell Motoring Festival returns in October with more than 150 classic cars showcased on the city hall campus.
Philip Carroll, co-founder of the festival with his wife, Pualani, said visitors can expect to see every type of car from an Aston Martin to a Mercury Zephyr.
“That’s a moonshine car from the 1930s that had a big V8 engine in it,” Carroll said of the Zephyr. “Moonshiners used them. They’re very fast.”
Other classic automobiles will include a Packard, Porshe, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Jaguar, as well as classic corvettes and mustangs.
More than 2,500 people are expected to attend the motoring festival, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street. Admission is free to the public. Classic car owners who want to feature their cars can register online and are asked to make a $30 charitable donation. Registration on the day of the event is $35.
Proceeds will benefit Roswell first responders and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Attendees can vote for their cars in four categories: People’s Choice, first place and runner up; and Ladie’s Choice, first place and runner up.
Last year, a cream white 1961 Lincoln Continental won the People’s Choice honor.
Grand Marshall for this year’s event is Sam Mahdavi, host of the TV series Sam’s Garage and co-owner of Mahdavi Motorsports auto repair.
Mahdavi provided more than 10 performance cars for the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise, according to the motoring festival website.
The event also features artists’ booths, From the Earth Brewing Company and a music trio performing Rat Pack era music.
