Lynne McDonald always knew she was creative but didn’t view herself as an artist until she spontaneously created a piece in 2005 on her kitchen wall.
McDonald said that she felt an inner calling to create the artwork.
But that didn’t convince McDonald that she was an artist. She put down per paintbrush for 10 years, she said.
“I was going through a divorce and I thought painting was a part of therapy,” she said. “I started dabbling… I knew that I needed to get out of my comfort zone and just go with it. I don’t think I set out to make a career out of painting.”
The self-taught abstract artist continued painting and has sold over 400 art pieces. Her work has been exhibited in dozens of art shows and juried events.
Wednesday, she will unveil new paintings, including an 8-foot by 6-foot piece, during an artist reception for the “Holiday Art Show, Smoke & Mirrors” at Serendipity Labs. The co-working office space is located at 3225 Cumberland Blvd, Suite 100, in Vinings.
McDonald’s artwork will remain on exhibit and for sale at Serendipity. Visit her website here or contact her via social media.

“If you had told me in my 20s that I would be making a living as an artist and stirring souls with my artwork, I never would’ve believed you,” McDonald said.
McDonald is a self-described entrepreneur. She is a former member of Georgia Tech’s VentureLab and worked in high tech start-up companies in the early 2000s, she said. When McDonald began to place more of a focus on painting in 2015, it was one of multiple enterprises such as marketing and writing.
“I was trying to figure out which one was going to stick,” she said.
In 2020, she set other endeavors aside and went “all in” with her painting. During the pandemic, McDonald held online events in which she was painting and showing her artwork, she said.
McDonald mixes additives into her paints to create a viscosity before pouring it onto a canvas. She has used such tools as a blow torch, forks, straws and other objects to swoosh the paint across her canvases.
“…I prefer the impact of a large statement piece,” the artist said. “…Each piece of work is a piece of me.”

@Geometry Dash Lite Art development in general and painting in particular, are unique human creations that need to be cherished and respected. I really like works of art that promote creative freedom and have a strong emotional direction. For example, her work is not constrained by other rigid elements….
