The owner of an athletic apparel company that’s focused on women’s empowerment is planning an afternoon of inspirational speakers at the Buckhead fitness studio, Stellar Bodies.
Lisa Crossley, founder of GIRLSTRONG athletic apparel, is bringing together five speakers on Oct. 15 for a “Healthy Happy Hour” that benefits the nonprofit Girls on the Run Georgia, formerly known as Girls on the Run Atlanta.
“I love that they teach health and wellness and exercise, and healthy mind and healthy spirit,” Crossley said of Girls on the Run. “They’re really boosting girls.”
Trained coaches at Girls on the Run blend physical activity with lessons in building self-confidence, cultivating empathy, managing emotions and more, according to the nonprofit’s website.
Crossley, who started her online apparel company in 2017, said her business and personal mission is to bring women together.
After experiencing some bullying growing up, Crossley said she was a young adult in the 1980s and ’90s when she started to become committed to her own physical fitness and self-empowerment.
“I think we all want to be empowered and connect. This event is going to be an afternoon of empowerment for women and girls; just really good energy,” said Crossley, a longtime athlete in CrossFit workouts.
Speakers at the Oct. 15 event include journalist and emcee Holly Firfer; Whitney Reynolds who is host of her own PBS syndicated show that showcases inspirational personal stories; a Girls on the Run representative and more.
Admission is $35 and will also include light bites and beverages, door prizes, a swag bag and a GIRLSTRONG T-shirt.
“I think it will be so uplifting,” Crossley said. “What an experience for young girls to be around conversation on self-development in a room full of really strong women.
