The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is preparing for a full fall season of programming that blends live performance, storytelling, and nationally recognized authors.
The 2025 Arts & Authors lineup includes the 34th annual book festival of the MJCCA.
The Arts & Authors season opened in August and continues with two events on Sept. 14. “The Birthday of the World” by The Alliance Theatre for the Very Young is a storytelling event for children 5 and younger.
That afternoon, the center will shift from playtime to the Men of Motown, hosting a cabaret performance featuring classics by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, and other icons.
Magician and mentalist Joshua Jay brings his stage show to Atlanta on Oct. 24. Jay, who has performed in more than 100 countries and earned recognition as Magician of the Year in 2020, is known for his blend of sleight of hand, mentalism, and theatrical storytelling, a statement said.
“Our Arts & Authors series is rooted in the belief that the arts have the power to connect and uplift,” said Pam Morton, MJCCA’s director of Arts & Authors. “Each event is an opportunity to engage with meaningful stories, whether through laughter, music, magic, or imaginative play.”
The 34th Edition of the Book Festival of the MJCCA is Nov. 1-16. The center will be announcing the lineup soon. A prologue to the event starts Oct. 11 with Eli Sharabi, author of “Hostage.” Sharabi survived 491 days in Hamas captivity following his abduction from Kibbutz Be’eri on Oct. 7, 2023, during which his wife and daughters were killed. His memoir recounts both his ordeal and his determination to survive.
In addition, bestselling author John Grisham will discuss his new novel, “The Widow,” on Oct. 22.
The Arts & Authors season reflects MJCCA’s role as both a community gathering place and a cultural hub, Morton said. “We’re proud to welcome a diverse range of performers and continue growing our community through partnerships that help us create inclusive, enriching experiences for all.”
The full schedule of events is available at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta website.
