Thousands lined the streets of Midtown for Atlanta’s annual Pride parade on Oct. 13 to celebrate the country’s largest free LGBTQ+ Pride festival.
On Oct. 12 to 13 Piedmont Park transformed into the festival hub, with dozens of vendors, food trucks and corporate booths handing out and selling goods. The main stage ran performances through the weekend, with musician Ava Max headlining.
Alongside the main Atlanta Pride parade, smaller parades are hosted through the weekend including the Trans March and Rally, the Bi+ Pan March and Rally and the Dyke March and Rally. All events corresponded to this year’s theme — “United with Pride.”
Atlanta Pride started in 1970 and draws in over 300,000 people each year. The event was held during National Pride Month until 2008, when the organizers moved it to October due to drought issues in the park. It’s remained in October since then to correspond with the weekend before National Coming Out Day.
