2025 marks a historic milestone for The Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC), as the state’s leading supplier diversity and small business development organization celebrates its 50th Anniversary. For five decades, the GMSDC has been at the forefront of economic equity, facilitating supply chain partnerships between Georgia’s small and minority businesses and the corporations and government entities that rely on their products and services.

Founded in 1975 by a small group of progressive Georgia corporations—including AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company, Cox Communications, Delta Airlines, Georgia Power, and MeadWestvaco (now WestRock)—the Council has had a major impact on the state’s economic landscape. This year, we take the opportunity to reflect on the Council’s extraordinary legacy and its role in shaping Georgia’s business ecosystem.

The GMSDC’s contributions over the past 50 years have been immense. With billions of dollars in revenue generated, hundreds of thousands of jobs created and substantial investments made in local communities, the Council has been a catalyst for economic empowerment and business growth. Its work has enriched countless companies, neighborhoods and families across Georgia, ensuring that small and minority-owned businesses have a seat at the table in supply chain opportunities.

The 2025 theme, “Honoring Our Legacy…Shaping the Future,” reflects the dual mission of this landmark anniversary. While celebrating the successes of the past, the GMSDC is equally committed to driving innovation and fostering sustainable growth to ensure a thriving future for its stakeholders.

Even amid changing economic landscapes, the GMSDC has remained a steadfast resource for Georgia’s business community. The Council continues to provide certification, business development programs and invaluable insights on optimizing a global supply chain. Looking forward, the GMSDC remains dedicated to expanding opportunities for minority businesses and maintaining Georgia’s reputation as the No. 1 State for Business.

Throughout 2025, GMSDC will host a series of special events and initiatives to commemorate its golden anniversary. Visit gmsdc.org throughout the year to get certified, learn about our business-building programs and find out when and where the 50th Anniversary activities will be.

As we embrace the next chapter, we honor the incredible legacy built over the past five decades and look ahead to a future filled with even greater achievements. Here’s to the next 50 years of growth and impact…
