It’s time to celebrate: It’s finally spring in the City of Atlanta. As the weather begins to warm up and residents find themselves spending more time outdoors, the Atlanta Beltline continues to transform urban living, offering a vibrant, accessible space where community, creativity and wellness converge. This spring, we’re highlighting the diverse ways you can engage with our public parks and trails, immerse yourself in culturally rich communities and find connections with other residents and visitors – all free of charge.
Atlanta Beltline Art
Atlanta Beltline Art celebrates the voices, experiences and values of all Atlantans through the work of hundreds of visual artists, performers and musicians along the corridor. One of the largest temporary public art exhibits and linear galleries in the United States for over 15 years, the art housed on the Beltline corridor both enriches and reflects the communities the trail helps weave together.
A new chapter of Atlanta Beltline Art is unfolding, bringing innovative programming and expanded creative opportunities to our community. Under new leadership established late last year, including the program’s first ever Director of Arts and Culture, the initiative is poised to enhance its position as one of the most accessible and beloved temporary public art exhibitions in the United States. Visitors can look forward to legacy art installations commemorating the Beltline’s upcoming 20th anniversary and continued growth in public art installations and community events that support the Beltline’s commitment to advancing equity, inclusion and representation along the corridor.
The legendary Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade will be back this year on May 3, 2025. The luminous celebration transforms the trail into a magical corridor of light and community spirit. Created and presented by Chantelle Rytter and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons, the parade brings together thousands of people and hundreds of lanterns for a festive evening of creativity, community and magic. The event returns to the Southwest Trail again this year, encouraging participants to make lanterns that reflect their personalities, hobbies, neighborhoods, favorite members of the animal kingdom and more. A key part of connecting with the spirit and intention of the parade is the DIY lanterns (which you must have to march in the parade). You can sign up for lantern workshops through the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons here.
Your Own Outdoor Gym
Did you know the Beltline hosts Atlanta’s largest free fitness program? Dozens of fitness and wellness classes, including roller skating, jumping rope, yoga and more are held almost every day in parks and other locations along the Beltline trail. The class schedule is available here!
Why is this so vital? It helps us make our city a healthier place, physically, mentally and socially. Exercise is a natural mood-booster and one of the best things people can do for their body. Yet the Beltline’s free fitness program offers more than just physical benefits – it’s a chance to build community, make new friends, and create connections you can enjoy both on and off the trail. And with the variety of classes offered, it would be impossible to get bored!
One of our most popular and longest “running” activities is the Atlanta Beltline Run Club, hosted in partnership with the Atlanta Track Club. Every Thursday, you can join us for a fun run or walk. After the workout, it’s part of the run club culture to stay to socialize and make new friends at local Beltline restaurants. And the best part? It’s dog friendly. Find a run club location here.
Get Outside and Give Back
With millions of people using the Beltline each year, we are grateful for our volunteers who continue to breathe life into the everyday experience on the Beltline. You can help us make the Beltline better and enjoy time outdoors connecting with other Beltline-lovers through our many volunteer opportunities, including trail cleanups, citywide activations, Adopting a Segment, and more. The Beltline belongs to Atlanta and our dedicated volunteers take that to heart!
Community Support
This spring, the Beltline is contributing to city life through free fitness classes that connect neighbors, public art that reflects our community’s spirit, and community spaces that enhance urban life.
These opportunities continue to flourish thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donors. Their contributions help create transformative community projects, including new parks, affordable housing, and expanded programming that shapes the landscape of Atlanta.
We invite companies and individuals to join our circle of supporters to help ensure these vital programs remain an integral part of Atlanta’s landscape. Your contribution makes a difference.
