From commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Save the Fox campaign to welcoming guests for the fourth annual Archives Day in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, Fox Theatre continues to shine a light on its history rich past while continuing to create new experiences for everyone who steps foot inside. With the Coca-Cola Film Series, the debut of Women & Wine and more exciting events on the horizon, the theater is inviting guests for a summer filled with community, culture and making new memories.
The month of June marks a momentous milestone as the Fox Theatre commemorates the 50th anniversary of the grassroots Save the Fox campaign, which rallied Atlantans (fun fact – including none other than our very own, Maria Saporta) in 1975, to rescue the theatre from demolition. What began as a community-led effort to preserve a beloved landmark has become a lasting legacy.
Allan Vella, Fox Theatre President and CEO, shares “It’s not lost on us how fortunate we are to still be here. As Atlanta’s entertainment scene continues to grow and new venues open across the city, the Fox is not just standing but thriving. We remain relevant because we present some of the world’s finest entertainment. As we approach our 100th anniversary, we are more committed than ever to preserving the Fox for future generations. We are Atlanta’s theatre and all are welcome.”
Today, the Fox stands as a treasured performing arts venue and a champion of the arts, education and historic preservation. This anniversary celebrates the spirit of community stewardship that saved the Fox and continues to shape its future. This summer, Fox Theatre showcases something for everyone to celebrate this outstanding milestone.
