Calls to Hope Atlanta’s office have skyrocketed, climbing from 3,000 to more than 15,000 each month. Behind every one of those calls is a story: a mother sleeping in her car with her children, a senior struggling to afford rent, or a young person facing an eviction notice.

At Hope Atlanta, we believe homelessness is not inevitable—it’s preventable. Yet too often, we wait until people are already in crisis before we act.

If a tap breaks, we don’t stand by as water floods the floor—we turn it off at the source. But when it comes to homelessness, our systems too often focus solely on mopping up the aftermath. That’s why Hope Atlanta is investing in both prevention and intervention, tackling the issue from all sides.

We’re working upstream—helping families avoid eviction, providing short-term rental assistance, and stabilizing households before they fall into crisis. At the same time, our teams are on the ground every day, meeting people where they are—on MARTA platforms, at the airport, and under bridges—connecting them to housing and the wraparound supports needed to thrive.

In the past fiscal year alone, we:

  • Engaged more than 8,000 individuals through street outreach.
  • Moved over 1,200 neighbors into permanent supportive housing.
  • Prevented 697 evictions, helping families stay safely in their homes.
  • Served 17,000+ meals through our Community Kitchen.
  • Provided case management to 4,300 people, linking housing with long-term self-sufficiency.

The latest Field Report highlights both sides of that work. Readers will meet Eugene, who embraced a new chapter at age 65, and a family whose life changed thanks to a MARTA officer’s quick action and Hope Atlanta’s prevention team’s rapid response. HopeFieldReport_Q3-2025.pdf

We also lift up the power of partnership—with MARTA Police and fellow members of the Atlanta Continuum of Care, led by Partners for HOME—to build lasting, systemic solutions.

Keeping people housed before crisis hits isn’t just compassionate—it’s the smartest, most cost-effective solution we have.
