The Fulton County Superior Court hearing involving Rogers Repair Shop, originally scheduled for Aug. 26, did not take place and has been rescheduled for Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.

Rogers Repair Shop, located at 2525 Riverdale Road, has been closed for several months. Owner Roderick Rogers says that the city has refused to renew his business license and wants to permanently shut down his business.

The business has operated for 22 years and specializes in repair, paint, and restoration. Neighbors who support Rogers Repair Shop say they had been unaware of the reasons for its closure, while others contend the business owner has been treated unfairly.

Rogers’ attorney, Erin Coleman, said she believes he has been targeted through city-issued violations, and a city claim that the shop is operating illegally under current zoning. Coleman describes Rogers Repair as a “legally non-conforming business,” grandfathered under a 1965 ordinance.

According to Coleman, the court has directed College Park to produce the ordinance.

  1. It’s funny how before the first article came out, they were all set to have the court date on the 26th of August. Court date was changed in my opinion because there was a spotlight put on this situation and they thought that they were just going to run over another business owner.

  2. How do you just take a hard working man’s livelihood from him and his family like that. I bet they trying knock down his business to build something else that’s going to line somebody pockets up. They are trying to hard to destroy this family legacy, 22 years have to mean something to the city just sad!

  3. It’s sad to see how Mr. Rogers has jumped through hoops Fulfilling every request the city has thrown at him. The thousands of dollars spent to beautify the appearance of his shop. Just to run into other ridiculous road blocks from a crooked council man. Trying to get his property for his own purpose. I’ve felt with Mr. Rogers for over 20 years and he’s about as honest as they come. Hopefully the judge will quit putting this off and give him his day in court. It’s not right to take away a man ability to provide for his family.
