Georgia State University’s 2017 Year in Review
Georgia State had a momentous 2017. The news media, government leaders, and businessman and philanthropist Bill Gates, who visited the university in June, gave the university more national recognition for its efforts to increase student success. Georgia State also received recognition for its efforts in boosting social mobility, and received high rankings globally for its business, economics and law programs. Georgia State Stadium opened this fall, giving the facility its third life after serving as the home of the Centennial Olympic Games and the Atlanta Braves.
Research continued to expand like never before, at a rate that far exceeds the pace at other universities. The university opened the new Creative Media Industries Institute, where faculty, students and Atlanta’s entertainment industry in film, video games, augmented reality and virtual reality meet as a workforce training ground and a resource for companies and businesses. We hope you enjoy this video showing some of the high points of 2017 at Georgia State, and wish you the best for 2018.
