The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is offering preorders for its new book on the state’s architectural history, from 1733 to the present.
“Architecture of the Last Colony: Georgia’s Historic Places, 1733-2000” is scheduled for release in October. Mark C. McDonald, the president and CEO of the Atlanta-based Georgia Trust, tells SaportaReport that 77 copies have already been sold by early on June 9 out of an initial print run of 3,000.
Selling for $49.95, the book is in part intended to fund an endowment to publish more. Georgia Trust members get 10 percent off.
The oversized book runs 296 pages with 193 photos of historic Georgia buildings that have been successfully preserved and can be visited today.
“These buildings tell a diverse story that shows how nationally significant architects and Native Americans, pioneer, female and African American architects have all contributed to Georgia’s built environment,” said McDonald in a press release.
McDonald is the book’s editor and one of its contributing writers. The publisher is the University of Georgia Press.
