Celebrate sustainable fashion with Atlanta-based stylists and Goodwill styles
To celebrate sustainable shopping and fashion before Earth Day (April 22nd), Goodwill of North Georgia is hosting a free Earth Day Fashion Show featuring thrifted looks created by local stylists.
On April 19th from 6 – 7p.m., models will walk the runway wearing outfits comprised of thrifted materials from various Goodwill of North Georgia locations. This free event will take place at one of the non-profits’ newest stores, the Morrow Store and Donation Center, located at 1905 Mt. Zion Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.
To create perfectly curated looks, Goodwill partnered with local thrifting community, Thrifting Atlanta, to bring in four Atlanta-based stylists and twenty models to display the numerous ways to give a second life to thrifted materials, clothing items, and accessories.
“The Earth Day Fashion Show showcases Goodwill’s commitment to being your first and only destination when it comes to shopping for sustainable fashion,” says Keren Charles, founder of Thrifting Atlanta. “It is a win, win situation because you can shop Goodwill with a clean conscience, knowing that you are saving money, impacting your community, and saving your environment by keeping clothes out of the landfills. The looks you will see on the runway will serve as inspiration and debunk the myth that you cannot be fashionable in thrift store clothing.”
Whether guests are looking to piece together items or completely upcycle them to something new, this fashion show will highlight how to create trendy yet affordable outfits for any occasion, all while helping the planet.
Abraham Carrillo, one of the featured stylists and founder of Roman Supply Co., specializes in upcycling Goodwill fabrics into completely new, unique pieces. He primarily focuses on sustainability when designing pieces, using every inch of fabric that he can from second-hand items found in various Goodwill stores.
Guests can shop all looks from the runway, including Abraham’s custom pieces. Additionally, guests will receive 25% off purchases of $25 or more from 6 – 8p.m. Profits will go towards Goodwill’s mission to put people to work.
