Harry Norman partners with Community Foundation for philanthropy fund

By Elyse Hammett, vice president marketing and communications, Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

My family has bought, renovated and sold a number of homes around Atlanta as our family grew and our needs changed over the years. Today, as empty nesters, we’re in the home-selling process again. The process of buying or selling a home can be a stressful as well as an exciting time. And now, through a partnership between Harry Norman, REALTORS® and the Community Foundation, the purchase of a home means giving back to great nonprofits in our region.

Harry Norman, REALTORS® recently launched the Harry Norman, REALTORS® Philanthropy Fund in partnership with the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta to showcase the firm’s commitment to Atlanta’s people and neighborhoods throughout the metro Atlanta region.

Throughout the year, sales associates contribute an amount from each home closing to the Fund. Harry Norman will contribute matching funds to further enhance the community impact. Each of the 16 Harry Norman, REALTORS® offices will participate in the process to identify and support the important charities in their communities that make a real difference.

Both of these iconic organizations have a long history in our region. Harry Norman has a 90-year history charitable service and financial contributions to nonprofits that help our region to thrive. With nearly 70 years driving philanthropy in the region, the Community Foundation will help Harry Norman’s team identify strong nonprofits that serve the hyper-local communities where realtors live and work. I’ve been told there has been a lot of friendly competition among Harry Norman’s 16 offices, with challenges to see which office has the highest level of participation and fundraising among sales associates.

What’s beautiful about this partnership, to me, is that the concept of home is at the root and heart of it. A home is much more than a physical structure, it’s a broader sense of place and sense of belonging to your community. We all belong to this region and it’s our duty to give back in whatever way we can. The acronym for ‘TEAM’ is really true – together, everyone achieves more.
