Jerry’s Habima Theatre at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta will stage a special production of  “Mary Poppins JR.” in March.

The professionally run theater company for actors with disabilities will collaborate with the community center’s drama program, featuring neurotypical children portraying the Banks children alongside Habima actors.

Mary Poppins JR.” follows the journey of the Banks family and their new nanny, Mary Poppins, who helps them rediscover the importance of family through imagination and connection.

The spring production runs from March 5 to March 15, with tickets priced from $20 to $36.

For more than 30 years, Jerry’s Habima Theatre has empowered actors with disabilities to take center stage, build confidence, and share their talents with the wider community, according to a statement. Productions bring together professional directors, choreographers, stage managers, and designers.

“This production captures everything we love about Habima,” said Jerry’s Habima Theatre Chairwoman, Lizette Dunay. “It is joyful, collaborative, and deeply meaningful for families of all ages. Mary Poppins JR. reminds us that magic is often found in connection, kindness, and showing up for one another, all of which are core to Jerry’s Habima Theatre.”

Jerry’s Habima Theatre Producer Stephanie Alterman said staging the production is a learning experience for all of the performers.

“By partnering with the MJCCA’s drama program, we’re creating a shared experience where adult Habima actors and young performers learn from one another and come together in the spirit of creativity, connection, and community,” said Alterman in a statement. “That blend of perspectives and talents is what makes live theater so powerful, and it brings a real sense of beauty and community to the stage.”
