On Jan. 19, The King Center unveiled an 8-story visual of Martin Luther King Jr. walking hand-in-hand with Coretta Scott King. The digital illustration, designed by Larmarrous Shirley, gleamed from the TK Elevator Innovation and Qualification Center’s (IQC) iconic LED Mesh screen over The Battery.
The display, visible from both I-75 and I-285, represents Dr. King’s legacy and was intended to amplify The King Center’s theme for this year’s observance: “Mission: Possible.”
“Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence365” is The King Center’s strategic theme for 2025. This theme defines the 2025 King Holiday Observance events and programming while serving as a compass for all the work they plan to lead this upcoming calendar year and beyond.
“The pioneering work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. demonstrated that Kingian Nonviolence [Nonviolence365] is the sustainable solution to injustice and violence in our world, ultimately leading to the creation of the Beloved Community, where injustice ceases, and love prevails,” The King Center shared.
In a post from TK Elevator’s LinkedIn, the company noted the importance of the visual message.
“Today, TK Elevator honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and is proud to collaborate with The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change [The King Center] to amplify this year’s theme, “Mission: Possible.” This powerful message calls for collective action in the spirit of nonviolence to build a brighter, more peaceful future for all. It serves as a testament to the enduring legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King”.
The King Center welcomes and invites you to join this movement for a new future as they strive to cultivate a Beloved Community Mindset and ultimately transform unjust systems.
