Not surprisingly, the Metro Atlanta Chamber plans to devote its entire executive committee meeting Thursday morning on state legislative issues.
The meeting follows a particularly disappointing session of the General Assembly that ended earlier this month without resolving a number of issues critical to the Atlanta business community.
Among the issues high on the chamber’s list include: the lack of progress on a bill that would allow voters to pass a one-cent sales tax for transportation improvements; the inability to pass legislation that would allow MARTA to spend its existing funds where they’re needed; and a bill to improve governance on school boards across the state.
When asked what would be on the agenda of Thursday’s meeting, Metro Atlanta Chamber President Sam Williams said they decided to devote the entire meeting to discussing what happened, or more specifically, what didn’t happen; and to discuss strategies for the future.
The chamber’s meetings are not open to the public.
