Atlanta’s streets were overrun with over 50,000 costumed athletes for the 56th annual Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race on the Fourth of July, marking another year of the world’s largest 10k run.

The race kicked off in Buckhead and stretched down to Piedmont Park. After completing the race, runners decked out in their Fourth-of-July best celebrated with snacks, music and medals.

Every year, local runners and globally recognized athletes turn the streets of Atlanta into a racetrack. The event is known for its hefty crowd size: in 2019, the race peaked with 60,000 participants. COVID-19 caused a drop in runners, but the turnout has been climbing since then.

At the July 4, 2025 race Kenyan runner Patrick Kiprop, an All-American athlete for the Arkansas Razorbacks won the men’s elite division. Kenyan Olympic medalist Hellen Obiri won the women’s elite division.
