The work of artist Kathy Rennell Forbes will be on exhibit in Sandy Springs in October.
Forbes is an international artist and instructor known for her impressionistic works in watercolor, acrylic and oil, with pieces held in collections worldwide, including the French Olympic Committee in Paris and Universal Studios in California.
Locally, she has conducted watercolor demonstrations or exhibited work at the High Museum of Art, Booth Western Art Museum and Oglethorpe University Museum of Art.
Forbes’ artwork, “Unexpected Beauty,” will be on exhibit in the Gallery at Sandy Springs City Hall from Thursday through Jan. 8, 2026.
Visitors can meet Forbes during an artist reception 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 8.
“Unexpected Beauty” is a commentary of reused, discarded materials transformed into mixed-media paintings.
“Very little goes to waste in my studio. Each element becomes a piece of a larger story of transformation, said Forbes in a Sandy Springs statement.
In addition to her latest project, Forbes says, she continues to work in watercolor — her first love — which she paints intuitively. Her plein air paintings often capture not just the visual scene, but the sensory experience of place, from the sound of birds to the feel of a breeze.
