Maybe there will be a Screen on the Green season in 2011 after all.

The City of Atlanta has just sent out a media advisory about a “major announcement” concerning the 2011 Screen on the Green season.

Several weeks ago, the Piedmont Park Conservancy announced it was canceling the popular outdoor movie series because it had been unable to secure a top corporate sponsor.

The media advisory, however, strongly implies that the situation has changed.

The release says that a press conference will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park at 3 p.m.

Who will be there? Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta City Councilmembers, members of the Piedmont Park Conservancy (board, staff and advisory committee members)…..and……representatives from Delta Air Lines and Georgia Natural Gas.

While the announcement won’t come till Wednesday, it looks promising that we’ll be sitting on the Piedmont Park meadow at some point this summer watching the big screen.
