Emory University has selected Gregory L. Fenves as its 21st president.
Emory’s Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that Fenves, president of the University of Texas at Austin was selected in a unanimous vote of the board. He will begin his tenure at Emory on Aug. 1.
KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools is going through a rapid growth period. Already it is the largest charter school operator in the state of Georgia.
And thanks to its relationship with the Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County, it has ambitious plans to grow even more.

The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation gave Emory University a $400 million grant that will enable it to kick-start two major projects.
Starting in September, Emory University welcomes its first female president, Claire Sterk. She served as Emory’s provost since 2013.
She succeeds Jim Wagner, who has been Emory’s president for 13 years.
