East Point, South Fulton and Roswell elected new mayors Tuesday night, while Sandy Springs voters chose to keep their longtime incumbent in office.

In Sandy Springs, Mayor Rusty Paul secured a fourth term with 69 percent of the vote, defeating challenger Dontaye Carter. Paul was first elected in 2013.

In the race for the open District 4 City Council seat, Frank Roberts won by a 12-point margin over Michelle Roberts.

In Roswell, former State Representative Mary Robichaux unseated incumbent Mayor Kurt Wilson with 53 percent of the vote. Wilson, elected in 2021, has faced criticism from residents pressing for greater transparency around city decisions.

East Point residents elected Keisha Chapman as mayor with 64 percent of the vote over Councilman Joshua B. Butler IV, who received 36 percent.

In South Fulton, Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs defeated former Councilman Mark Baker, receiving nearly 60 percent of the vote to become the city’s next mayor. Her victory comes as South Fulton prepares for a reset following ongoing controversies involving outgoing Mayor Khalid “Kobi” Kamau, including allegations of misuse of city funds.

Voters in South Fulton also decided two city council runoff races. Aaron Johnson (55 percent) won the District 2 seat currently held by Gumbs, defeating Stephanie Johnson. In District 4, incumbent Councilman Jaceey Sebastian narrowly held onto his seat, defeating Kenya Jordan Moor with 50.53 percent of the vote.
