We want to hear from you!
By Derek Prall
My name is Derek Prall. You might not recognize the name as it doesn’t appear on many bylines here, but I’ve been working in the background of SR for a few years now. Simply put, I’m the guy that makes sure our copy is error-free and everything runs on schedule.
Part of that responsibility is making sure our guest columns are posted every Sunday. That space is very important for this publication — it’s where readers can leverage our platform to start conversations about topics that are important to them and their communities. In that section our contributors have discussed everything from environmental issues and best business practices to public policy problems and what might be best for the future of our city. Mayor Andre Dickens even penned a guest column to announce the launch of his Summer Youth Employment Program.
If you haven’t already figured out where I’m going with this, I’ll be direct. We want to hear from you. Yes, you. Have you ever thought to yourself, wow, someone should say something about that? You are that someone, and this is your opportunity to do exactly that. I’m encouraging you — imploring you, even — to speak up. Civic engagement isn’t a passive exercise, and our brand of journalism is a collaborative effort. If you want change, if you want a better Atlanta, you need to make your voice heard.
Let SaportaReport help.
If you have something on your mind, reach out to me. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Shoot me a message with your idea for a column, and let’s get something in the works. We’ll support you throughout the drafting process, publish your piece and help you start the crucial conversations necessary to make our city a more equitable, more inclusive and more prosperous place.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope to hear from you soon.
