Broadcast journalist and author Hoda Kotb will be the keynote speaker at the Atlanta Women’s Foundation annual fundraising luncheon this fall.
The Atlanta Women’s Foundation dedicates millions of dollars to leadership opportunities and solutions to challenges facing women and girls in Atlanta communities.
Kotb is scheduled to speak at the nonprofit’s “Numbers to Big to Ignore” luncheon on Oct. 29 at the Georgia World Congress Center, where more than 1,600 attendees are expected.
The luncheon has featured numerous notable speakers over the years, such as Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, Maya Angelou, Laura W. Bush and Condoleezza Rice. Last year, “Saturday Night Live” alum Molly Shannon shared her personal story and how she came into her laugh-out-loud humor while coping with deep, transformative pain.
Kotb retired as co-host of “The Today Show” in January after 17 years. Her career has included covering war zones, politics, and social issues while giving a voice to women facing extraordinary challenges, an Atlanta Women’s Foundation statement said.
In 2021, Kotb received the Matrix Award from New York Women in Communications, an organization of 2,500 members that recognizes outstanding female leaders in communications.
Kotb has penned eight bestselling books, including “Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, “Bad Hair, Cancer” and the children’s book “Hope is a Rainbow.”
“Her books reflect her passion for empowering women to embrace their journeys and find joy in moments of growth and transformation,” the statement said. “Each narrative encourages strength and hope, blending personal reflections with uplifting messages.”
