New Spark Prize offering community innovation grants with a $25,000 top prize
Does Spark Prize sound as exciting to you as it does to us at United Way? This philanthropic competition was first introduced last year at the C3 Conference and we are thrilled to be currently offering it in Gwinnett County. In a nutshell, Spark is an innovative model to fund even more innovative programs.
How it works:
1. Interested applicants submit a 3-5 minute video explaining their idea, their partnership and their solution to the toughest issues around income, education, health, hunger and homelessness.
2. 10 finalists are chosen and they present to a panel of judges “Shark Tank-style” in front of a live audience.
3. Winners are chosen and micro grants are awarded!
Spark Prize is an excellent opportunity for us at United Way to engage with startups, social entrepreneurs and “out of the box” thinkers in our community.
A 2016 Spark Prize is now in the works in Gwinnett County! United Way of Greater Atlanta, in partnership with The Primerica Foundation, The Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, Partnership Gwinnett, the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services and the Atlanta Community Food Bank will host their finalist competition with awards up to $25,000 on April 28t. We can’t wait to recognize community innovators who are creating new ways to make Gwinnett County the best community it can be.
Our finalists are being chosen this week, and to say it’s going to be a tough decision for our judges is an understatement! You can learn more about Spark Prize and join your fellow community leaders as we cheer on our finalists and award the most innovative ideas with grants to help them succeed. Spark Gwinnett is also a great opportunity to educate yourself about the needs of your local community and how they are being addressed through fresh solutions for change.
