Fox Theatre presents inaugural ‘Friendsgiving’ event

The Fox Theatre recently announced its first-ever Friendsgiving celebration, A Foxgiving Feast, on Monday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Guests are invited to gather for an evening filled with friendship, gourmet Thanksgiving-inspired dishes, select wines and more. General admission tickets start at $75  and include access to the event, a Thanksgiving-themed menu, a Lexus-sponsored artist print gift and an event-branded photo opportunity. Early purchase is encouraged as prices may increase closer to the day of the event.

“Thanksgiving is all about expressing what we’re grateful for, and here at the Fox, we’re grateful for the shared experiences we create with our guests,” said Jamie Vosmeier, vice president of sales and marketing at the Fox Theatre. “Whether you’re coming with family or not, during A Foxgiving Feast, we’ll be your family, and we’re honored to offer one more memorable experience for everyone.”

City of South Fulton granted Miss City of South Fulton Scholarship Organization by the Miss Georgia Organization

The City of South Fulton announces the official launch of the Miss City of South Fulton Scholarship Organization by way of the Miss Georgia Scholarship organization, a licensee of the Miss America Opportunity. This new initiative is a shared commitment of both the City of South Fulton and the Miss Georgia Executive Board to drive community engagement, empowerment, and the celebration of local talent.

“This organization will not only provide our young women with valuable scholarships to further their education but also create opportunities for them to grow as leaders and role models,” said District 3 Councilwoman Helen Zenobia Willis. “By aligning with the mission of the Miss America Scholarship Organization, we are setting a powerful foundation for the future — one that empowers young women to reach their fullest potential, both academically and personally. I am excited to see the incredible talent that will emerge from our city and surrounding areas as we come together to celebrate and invest in the dreams of our future leaders.” 

Through this initiative, the Miss City of South Fulton Scholarship Organization will offer young women opportunities for personal growth, educational scholarships, and leadership development. Town Center community hosts State of the District Event; honors business partners

The Town Center community held its third annual State of the District at the Governors Gun Club in Kennesaw, Ga. on Oct. 22. 

The event, hosted by Town Center’s Community Improvement District and its non-profit placemaking partner the Alliance brought together industry leaders, community members and key stakeholders to discuss the district’s vision for 2025 and to recognize the winners of the 2024 Townie Awards.

This year’s event, focused on fostering a thriving business, academic and residential community, included the announcement of both short and long-term initiatives such as phase 2 of Lanie Park, Big Shanty Widening, deployment of Regional Connected Vehicle Program technology within the district, and more.

This year’s honored leaders who have been a part of Town Center Community’s rich history and have made significant contributions to Town Center’s success include:

Former Gov. Roy Barnes, Justice Vera Colvin to speak at LSC’s Atlanta Access to Justice Forum and Pro Bono Service Awards Reception

The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) will welcome Georgia Supreme Court Justice Vera Colvin, former Governor Roy Barnes and members of the Georgia legal community to a forum and reception on Monday, Oct. 28.  

In addition to remarks by Justice Colvin, the forum will feature two panel discussions. It will take place at the State Bar of Georgia Conference Center from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. ET and will be livestreamed on LSC’s YouTube channel. The first panel on medical-legal partnerships will be moderated by Holly Stevens, Chief Data Officer at LSC, and will include three local guests:  

  • Malik Hines, Staff Attorney, Georgia Legal Services Program
  • Kathryn Marous, Staff Attorney, Health and Law Partnership (HeLP), Atlanta Legal Aid
  • Dr. Stan Sonu, Medical Director of Child Advocacy, Children’s Healthcare Atlanta

The event’s second panel will highlight the corporate community’s role in access to justice. LSC President Ron Flagg will moderate the discussion featuring:  

  • Seth Bruckner, Vice President of Legal & Compliance, UPS Healthcare
  • Kacy Goebel, Assistant General Counsel, The Home Depot

Following the forum, Gov. Barnes and LSC Board Chairman John Levi will give remarks at the Pro Bono Service Awards Reception. The awards recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed exemplary volunteer service to expand access to justice. The awardees, who were nominated by Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP), are:  

  • Atlanta Legal Aid Society’s Service Counse — accepted by Jarvarus Gresham, Taryn Harper and Lauren Frisch
  • Professor Ishaq Kundawala

The awards reception will be held at Ventana Atlanta from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Over 1,000 pounds of trash removed from Peachtree Creek

DS Smith, a provider of sustainable fiber-based packaging worldwide, participated in a river cleanup with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) removing 1060 pounds of trash from Peachtree Creek, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. DS Smith employees’ effort beautified the adjacent Armand Park walking trail and removed trash from the critical watershed that provides drinking water to the Atlanta metro.  

As part of its “Now and Next” sustainability program, DS Smith has partnered with environmental groups across the country to engage its employees in environmental stewardship and support our shared missions to improve the environment and communities where our employees live and work. 

CRK is DS Smith’s North American flagship partner. The company recently sponsored CRK’s 30th Annual Patron Dinner celebration with a $10,000 contribution and has collaborated with the group on our operations and sustainability strategy.
