Atlanta City Council candidate Q and A: District 10

Parts of of the west side of Atlanta will get a new City Council member this year’s election. The candidates say some of their biggest concerns are blighted properties, quality of life, public safety, jobs and homelessness.

Incumbent District 10 Councilman C.T. Martin is leaving the post to run for City Council president, meaning one of three candidates will become a freshman Council member.  We asked them about their concerns for the district, what Council has done right, what Council has done wrong, and other questions. In the race for campaign donations, the latest reports have yet to be posted for all three candidates on the site the city uses to publish those numbers.

As of June 30, the last report date, Hill reported having raised about $32,000, of which $25,000 was self-funded.

Boone had not yet entered the race as of June 30.

Rice filed her report for the third quarter early and reported raising about $6,164 through Sept. 30.

The election is on Nov. 7. If necessary, a runoff will be held on Dec. 5.

The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 10.
