Atlanta’s festival season continues, with hundreds of attendees flooding the streets of Inman Park for the city’s largest all-volunteer festival featuring over 260 vendors, local food, a tour of homes and a raucous parade.

Inman Park Festival began in the early 1970s to draw attention to the historic neighborhood first developed in the late 1800s. It’s organized by the Inman Park Neighborhood Association. In the years since, its expanded to a weekend-long festival that brings out locals and visitors alike.

This year, the Seed & Feed Marching Abominable served as the parade’s Grand Marshals. The volunteer all-ages marching band is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the same parade where it first made a public appearance.

One of the Seed & Feed members said she doesn’t live in Atlanta anymore, but comes in from New Orleans where “every day” is like the festival to join in the marching band.

The Saturday parade followed with dozens of floats from local organizations, bands and “krewes” of theme creatives. It ended with a crowd of people dressed as red-capped gnomes, the now iconic figure of the annual festival.
