Why We Celebrate
By Charles Redding, MedShare CEO & President
We ask a lot of our network of supporters. Each time a disaster hits, we ask them to donate emergency supplies. Each time a hospital needs support, we ask our donors to give generously. Each time an outbreak occurs, we ask our friends and neighbors to respond. The needs are overwhelming and sometimes the asks are too. It’s easy to grow weary when all you hear is bad news and all you’re asked for is help. That’s why it’s important to me to celebrate our successes as a giving community. Among the vast amount of need, it’s essential to take a moment to recognize the fruits of our efforts and acknowledge how far we’ve come. MedShare asks a lot of our supporters, so now we ask one more thing: celebrate with us.
Celebrate the 20 million people living happier, healthier lives thanks to MedShare donations. Celebrate the 800,000 healthcare professionals equipped with MedShare supplies who are able to provide critical care to patients in need. Celebrate the 100 countries with stronger health systems thanks to sustainable donations of lifesaving medical supplies and equipment. Celebrate Faiçal, the five-year-old boy in Niger who was finally able to receive surgery thanks to donations of surgical supplies from MedShare. Celebrate Dr. Haack who was able to provide care for hundreds of patients across Puerto Rico in the year following Hurricane Maria. Celebrate the fact that 20 years ago our founders A.B. Short and Bob Freeman saw an opportunity to take what we have in excess and share it with those in need. Celebrate the healthier world that has been built by people who support MedShare’s mission. And make no mistake, none of this would have been possible without each and every donor, volunteer, medical mission team leader, sponsor, and supporter who has bolstered our success along the way.
This year we’re celebrating these successes, and more, at our Third Annual Kaleidoscope Gala. On September 29th, we will honor our 20th anniversary and the accomplishments we’ve made in those two decades. I invite you to celebrate our mission and help us usher in the next 20 years of improving the quality of life of people and our planet. There is so much more work to be done, but I know that we will succeed because we have a global network of truly remarkable individuals working together to build a healthier world. There’s no better reason to celebrate than that!
