Atlanta United built its image around the idea of railroads. I think it would have been better to build it around airplanes. The Airport is what really makes Atlanta. The screaming sound of a jet engine as a selected celebrity pounds the “golden suitcase” into the baggage carousel would be so memorable.
Yes, airplanes did finally arrive on the scene in Atlanta…but only AFTER trains and automobiles. And , be they praised….or dammed,….automobiles still leave a big footprint on the metro scene. After all, the current airport was birthed from an early haven of automotive derring-do ;…. a racetrack.
