Two landmark events Wednesday morning weaved special tales of Atlanta’s history, present and future. The first was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Norfolk Southern’s new corporate headquarters in Midtown as dignitaries welcomed Atlanta’s newest Fortune 500 company. Petition calls for reopening of shuttered Centennial Olympic Park
Weeks after downtown’s focal green space shuttered amid the pressures a pandemic that’s throttled businesses near and far, activists and neighbors are lobbying to see the barriers removed and Centennial Olympic Park reopened to the public.
Georgia continues to borrow to build projects, create jobs as state debt remains low
The $1.2 billion Georgia intends to inject into the state’s economy through its long-term investment program is expected to help offset the pandemic-related recession that has cut jobs and hampered company earnings across the state.

Centennial Olympic Park makes mark as public-private urban renewal project
As Centennial Olympic Park became a backdrop Monday for the Atlanta United parade, the park again solidified its position as a regional touchstone that remains a center of major developments – more than $2.3 billion since 1996.
