Civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph E. Lowery will be honored along with his late wife, Evelyn Lowery.
Also, philanthropist Merritt Steed Bond and attorney Edward “Jack” Hardin, a homeless advocate, also will be honored at the annual event that celebrates Georgians who have made significant contributions to the community through their leadership, service and philanthropy.

Gary Reedy, president and CEO of the American Cancer Society since April 2015, is on a mission to make the Atlanta-based nonprofit more relevant and well-known.
As a former executive of Johnson & Johnson, Reedy began volunteering with the American Cancer Society 15 years ago, joining the board in 2006.
Commentary: Georgia’s a central city for global health
The Task Force for Global Health – the largest nonprofit based in Georgia – received a significant endorsement this month. The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation awarded the Task Force with its 2016 Humanitarian Prize – which comes with a $2 million grant.
