Felicia Moore and Alex Wan promise a more independent Atlanta City Council if they win

The next president of the Atlanta City Council will seek to create a more independent body that will be dedicated to transparency and reforming the city’s procurement process.

The Center for Civic Innovation held a leadership breakfast Thursday morning with the two candidates in the run-off for City Council President – Felicia Moore and Alex Wan – two existing district Councilmembers.

Just 11 days before early voting starts, runoff candidates for Atlanta’s top offices met to take questions from reporters — and each other — about ethics, party and more.

At a Thursday morning Atlanta Press Club debate in the WPBA-TV studio, mayoral candidate Mary Norwood tried to truss Keisha Lance Bottoms to scandals at a City Hall presided over by Bottoms’ ally Mayor Kasim Reed. And Bottoms pushed to link Norwood to the Republican Party. And that was less than 10 minutes into the debate. (Videos at the bottom of the page.)

Victory Fund pushing to elect Cathy Woolard and Alex Wan in November

The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, the politican action committee dedicated to increasing the number of LGBTQ public officials in the country, brought its political might to Georgia Sunday.

The organization held a Victory Fund brunch at the Wimbish House with an expressed goal of electing Cathy Woolard as the next mayor of Atlanta and Alex Wan as the next president of the Atlanta City Council. Both of them received a Victory Fund Leadership Award.
